Over 40 Senior Cricket
Over 40 Senior cricket is for cricketers aged 40 and above. Matches are played every second Sunday from 10am at each club’s main turf ground, meaning the conditions and facilities on offer are excellent. Games are played in a 40-over format and spikes are mandatory to play in this grade, as with all matches on turf pitches.
The normal rules of cricket are followed with some minor changes: batsmen must retire after 50 runs (they can resume their innings once all the other batsman have been dismissed) and bowlers can bowl a maximum of eight overs.
After initial club registration fees are paid, we provide a Hawks playing shirt and cap. All other equipment is to be supplied by the player. This grade has a designated umpire to adjudicate, with player match fees of $25 charged per game. This fee also covers a substantial lunch which is provided by the host club.
O40 Cricket is played competitively but in good spirit – you will find most sledges will come from your own teammates rather than the opposition! So if you are new to the game, coming back from a break or just want to play on turf, this is your opportunity.

Our O40 Senior teams are selected on a first-in basis (squad of 15). If we have enough registrations, we may have the opportunity to field two O40 teams. In that scenario, we may opt to have a competitive team and a social team. The committee will make an announcement regarding this following our sign on days.
