2011/12 Representative Hawks

Helensvale Pacific Pines Cricket Club supports its junior representative players.

The junior cricket program revitalised by the club ahead of the 2008/09 season has proven so successful that it has already produced three representative players for the 2011/12 season. Our congratulations go to the following players:

Jack Baird has been selected in the U14 age group as an opening batsman and part-time leg spin bowler.  Jack’s State Carnival is being held in Mackay from December 12 to 16, 2011.

Shawn Riddell has been selected in the U14 Development Carnival being held on the Sunshine Coast from January 2 to 6, 2012 as a left-arm swing bowler and hard hitting lower-order batsman.

Rhys Coombe will represent the Gold Coast at the U16 State Carnival at Brisbane Grammar School’s playing fields from December 12 to 16, 2011.  Rhys has been selected as a top order batsmen and off-spin bowler.

Well done boys! In a show of financial support to them, the club has put in place a number of initiatives to assist the boys with their participation costs of roughly $1000.  With the support of Options Tavern at Westfield Helensvale, raffles are being run on Saturday afternoons, and on Saturday evenings the boys themselves will be cooking up sausages on the clubhouse barbecue for a gold coin donation. The club will also be taking donations and, if all goes well with other raffles at Saltwater Creek, will be using some of the money from that to help get the boys to their representative games.

The Hawks are always looking to encourage cricketers to explore higher-level opportunities and will do what we can to help them get there.
